The trigger lies in the amendment made by the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) in November 2020 that allows liquidators to transfer/sell or assign 'Not Readily Realisable Assets' (NRRA) of the company in liquidation to any person after consultation with stakeholders' consultation committee, a move intended to facilitate quick closure of the liquidation process.
