The end of the Laurie Strode saga, Halloween Ends is coming to theaters AND Peacock on October 14, and USA Today has shared a new action shot from the movie this morning.

David Gordon Green‘s films frequently reference the original Halloween in fun ways, and this latest shot is a clear callback to Laurie Strode stabbing Michael Myers with a knitting needle way back in 1978. Only this time around, Michael is the one wielding the knitting needle.

Check out the new image above and expect more – a new trailer, perhaps?! – soon.

“After 45 years, the most acclaimed, revered horror franchise in film history reaches its epic, terrifying conclusion as Laurie Strode faces off for the last time against the embodiment of evil, Michael Myers, in a final confrontation unlike any captured on-screen before.

“Only one of them will survive.”

Here’s the official plot synopsis for Halloween Ends: “Four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.”

Nick Castle, the original Michael Myers, had recently noted that Halloween Ends will be a “surprising” conclusion to David Gordon Green‘s trilogy, while makeup effects artist Chris Nelson similarly teased that the third installment in the trilogy is “weird” and “different.” And John Carpenter had also called the new movie a “departure” in a recent interview.

Halloween Ends will also feature the return of Will Patton as Officer Frank Hawkins, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace and James Jude Courtney as The Shape/Michael Myers.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

The next installment of The Conjuring Universe is set to be The Nun 2, with Michael Chaves (The Curse of La Llorona, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) taking over as director. Bonnie Aarons will be back, again playing the demon known as Valak, and tonight THR reports that Storm Reid (“Euphoria”) has been set to lead the cast of the upcoming sequel.

The Nun 2 will arrive in theaters on September 8, 2023.

Here’s the first The Nun 2 plot synopsis: “1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit THE NUN follows SISTER IRENE as she once again comes face to face with the demonic force VALAK – THE DEMON NUN.”

The first movie back in 2018 was set in 1952 Romania, so the sequel will be picking up just four years later. Sister Irene is the character played by Taissa Farmiga in The Nun.

Back in 2018, The Nun scared up a whopping $365 million at the worldwide box office, all but ensuring that we hadn’t seen the last of the demonic nun known as Valak.

Last we heard, Akela Cooper (Malignant) will be writing The Nun 2.

In Corin Hardy’s The Nun, “A priest with a haunted past and a novice on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate the death of a young nun in Romania and confront a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun.”
